Freezing at the Mankato Marathon

Oct 22, 2013 -- 5:19pm

As an intern, we get to attend tons of local events that normally we may not think of attending.

One of the ones I wouldn't have thought of going to voluntarily was the Mankato Marathon that occurred this past weekend.

Though breezy and teeth-chattering cold for non-runners, we had the opportunity to watch an actual wedding, hear from the first woman to complete the Boston Marathon and watch runners receive their awards for running farther and  better than we ever could. Intern Kendra was even inspired to add running a 5k to her bucket list.

The main thing I learned from the event was to always plan ahead and to never trust the weather app on my smart phone. Next time, I'm bringing mittens and a massive thermos of hot chocolate to keep warm.
