Mankato Area Public Schools Superintendent Sheri Allen is retiring at the end of the current school year, after ten years leading the district.
School board member Ann Hendricks was among those thanking her for her service after the announcement at Monday night’s meeting. She said, “You believe all means all. You believe in high expectations. You believe in working to our fullest. You believe in community partnerships and collaboration. You believe and I appreciate that, so thank you.”
Board member Sara Hansen said Allen placed the district in a good place for the foreseeable future and, “You have created an incredibly deep bench and you are leaving us in an extremely strong position from a leadership perspective.”
Allen also believes the transition will go smoothly and asked the board to, “Remember, you still have me for six more months. We’re going to work hard. It’ll be a beautiful transition. This is a wonderful district; people want to be here.”
Allen’s day on the job will be June 30.
